I like Guy Pearce. He’s not the flashiest or most memorable performer but he’s always solid in his roles. So what surprised me most about Lockout was especially brilliant he is here. This is a straight-up Sci-Fi action movie that’s mostly a flashy twist on the typical formula. If Lockout had come out in 1994, Schwarzenegger would have played the lead and it would have probably been a big hit.

The CG gets a little dicey in places but there’s also several moments where it looks downright great despite the lower budget. I also liked Maggie Grace (of Taken fame) who starts off as a female cliche but by the end, grows into a pretty great female protagonist. The best part of Lockout though is the one-liner’s. Classic stuff that a Stallone or Willis would have made sing back in the day. Pearce does a pretty good job holding his own though.

As many of the reviews say, this is dumb fun and I agree.
